Ritz-Carlton, Cancun
But for many, there's little reason to venture out. The Ritz-Carlton, Cancun has two pools, an updated spa, a new tennis center, 1,200 feet of white-sand beach and numerous restaurants and lounges. Further, the resort offers higher-end pursuits, such as cooking classes in a granite and stainless steel Culinary Center or a summertime program to protect the sea turtles that still swim onto the beach to lay eggs. After its reopening after Hurricane Wilma, the resort is in wonderful condition. The property had closed for about a year to make $15 million in repairs and upgrades. The hotel continues to evolve. The renovation allowed for the building of the $250,000 Culinary Center, a dream kitchen with Viking Ranges and an outdoor patio with barbecue. The Kayanta Spa was upgraded, offering herbal steam rooms, open-air showers, relaxation garden patios with hot tubs and plunge pools, and secluded terraces for outdoor massages. Also added in the renovation project was Casitas, comprising 16 private cabanas on the beach, where guests can dine on grilled steak, seafood and salads. The Lobby Lounge now features The Ceviche Bar for delectable Mexican seafood cocktails and sushi. In addition, the renovation freshened up virtually all the public areas and guestrooms, increasing the number of connecting rooms from 36 to 47 to appeal to families. Also every one of the 365 rooms and suites faces the sea.
