Discover Los Cabos!

A mix of beaches, desert landscapes, world-class resorts and picturesque mission towns makes this south-of-the-border paradise a something for everyone destination!

Cross the Golden State's southern border and you're in Baja California, a 1,000 mile long peninsula separated from Mexico's mainland by the Gulf of California. With 2,038 miles of coastline, this strip of land has plenty of beaches...but to find the best ones, head way south to Los Cabos.

Los Cabos, one of Mexico's premier beach destinations, encompasses Cabo San Lucas, San Jose del Cabo and the 20-mile "corridor" that stretches between the two towns. "Cabo" a classic resort town and cruise ship port is the top choice of vacationers with a taste for dusk til dawn nightlife. Up north, historic San Jose del Cabo offers a laid-back alternative to the bustling resort. And when it comes to activities, here, you can play just as hard or relax just as completely as you desire.

At one time, Los Cabos was a "secret getaway" of the rich and famous; today, it's an internationally known vacation spot where beach-lovers, adventure-seekers and some of Hollywood's brightest stars always get a sunny welcome!

Whether a romantic or outdoor enthusiast, you'll relish in the selection of hotels (from budget to luxury) and the wealth of activities (from sunbathing to marlin fishing) found in this picturesque destination surrounded by sands of both desert and sea.

Honeymooners seeking privacy, seclusion and romance will find it all here, especially in summer. With 20 miles of coastline, the beaches are never really crowded.

Many resorts have honeymoon suites, beach bungalows and villas overlooking the sea. The stark beauty of the destination, combined with an equally exciting selection of daytime activities and nightlife, plus secluded enclaves such as Lovers Beach are responsible for the popularity of honeymooners.  Several resorts have wedding packages, complete with flowers, cake, music, reception and photographer.

Los Cabos Beaches

From San José del Cabo to Cabo San Lucas there are twenty very varied main beaches to explore. The most famous are Playa Costa Azul, a haven for surfers; Playa Palmilla, a favorite spot for shutterbugs; Santa Maria Bay, with its protected cove and marine sanctuary; Playa Chileno, known for its fine swimming and snorkeling; Playa El Médano, the center of Cabo San Lucas watersports and Playa del Amor, accessible only by watercraft and near the famous "El Arco", where the Sea of Cortés meets the Pacific Ocean. Many are secluded, others popular, and some have restaurants and changing rooms while some do not. At some, currents may be strong, and visitors are advised to seek advice in choosing a beach to fit their needs.

Los Cabos' Must-Sees

Cabo San Lucas: Sample the pleasures of its sun-splashed beaches, do some shopping or take in the sights and sounds of the busy marina, where a brand-new attraction, Cabo Dolphins, lets you have an up close encounter with the friendly marine mammals.

San Jose Del Cabo: This charming town provides a chance to experience traditional Mexican life. Wander cobbled streets lined with pastel-colored adobe buildings, then stop for a meal in one of the unexpectedly sophisticated restaurants.

Playa Medano: At the most popular beach in Cabo San Lucas, you can rent a banana boat, try para-sailing, break for a cold drink at a beachfront bar or restaurant or just sit back and take in the lively scene. Looking for a more tranquil ambience? Head for Playa Del Amor (Lovers' Beach).

Back-Country Tour: Los Cabos' rugged interior is a playgound for mountain bikers, hikers and rock-climbers. Want to see the sights in (relative) comfort? Tour the back-country in a Hummer or check it out on horseback.

Cabo Pulmo: This tiny village is the jumping off spot for underwater adventures in the Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park, a premier diving and snorkeling destination.

El Arco: Don't miss the short trip out to this massive natural rock formation that is a Cabo landmark. Rising from the water at the point where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez, "The Arch" is only accessible via boat tour, water taxi, jet-ski or sea kayak.
