Hilton Hawaiian Village

The Hilton Hawaiian Village is an iconic symbol on Oahu's Waikiki Beach. The grounds include 22 sprawling beachfront acres; 20 restaurants, bars and lounges; more than 90 shops; a 24-business center; and a post office.

The complex also has a $6 million wedding chapel and the 331-unit timeshare tower Grand Waikikian, bringing the total number of towers to seven. Waikiki’s largest pool is at the Hilton Hawaiian Village: the 10,000-square-foot Super Pool.

This bustling resort doesn't seem crowded but rather feels like a community welcoming families and couples to stroll and play on the beach. Visitors can dive 120 feet below the ocean's surface on an Atlantis Submarine, one of Oahu's premier attractions, which is located right at the resort. Also available at the resort are guided tours on a Segway, the two-wheeled, self-balancing electric vehicle.

One of the unique resort features is the abundance of wildlife, tropical plants and artwork. You'll find 60 species of exotic birds, waterfowl, turtles and fish. African penguins are a visitor favorite.

Ohau Attractions

Travelers can hike to the summit of nearby Diamond Head Crater for great view of the Honolulu shoreline and skyline. They can also relive one of the most important events in U.S. history at the USS Arizona Memorial, which marks the day of the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. Ground has been broken on a new visitor's center.

One highlight is visitors can take a piloted scenic air tour in a glider plane (www.honolulusoaring.com) and then visit nearby Kualoa Ranch, a 4,000-acre working cattle ranch that has doubled as a site where "Jurassic Park" and "Lost," among other movies and shows, have been filmed.

The choice of restaurants at the Hilton Hawaiian Village is large, but a standout is its fine-dining restaurant, Bail by the Sea, which serves award-winning Pacific Rim cuisine in an open-air dining room with stunning views of Waikiki Beach. For casual off-resort dining, try the Side Street Inn a popular neighborhood restaurant at 1225 Hopaka St. near the Ala Moana Shopping Center.

Hilton Hawaiian Village Accommodations

The Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa has more than 3,400 rooms. The 31-story Rainbow Tower, located right on Wailili Beach, has its own super pool. The Ali'i Tower, which recently finished renovations, is more secluded, with its own concierge, pool, sun terrace, whirlpool and fitness center.

Opened in 2001, the 315-room Kalia Tower is the newest tower. It houses the luxurious Mandara Spa, complete with 25 wet and dry spa treatment rooms, a sauna, steam rooms, a whirlpool, an outdoor pool and a sun terrace.

The Tapa Tower has its own conference center and meeting space. The Diamond Head Tower is located near the Village Green and houses a 24-hour Xerox Business Services center.

The Lagoon Tower is an oceanfront condo offering one and two bedroom suites with full kitchens and has its own private pool, whirlpool and lobby concierge. The all-suite Hilton Village Grand Vacations timeshare, which also has full kitchens, can be rented by vacationers for roughly $200 more than standard rooms, which start at $219.

The Hilton Hawaiian Village also has a "Paradise Pass" that entitles guests to a list of amenities and specials with a value of more than $100 per day for $20 plus tax per day.
