Ten Tips to Save You Time at Disneyland

Check out these 10 time-saving tips for visiting the Disneyland Resort.   They’re perfect for anyone who’s taking advantage of the latest offer to experience the “Happiest Homecoming On Earth.”

Tip #1: Park Hop – With Disneyland Park and Disney’s California Adventure Park located just steps from each other, a Park Hopper Ticket is the perfect way to save time and “maximize the magic.”  This ticket allows you to go back and forth as often as you like, so you'lll be sure to experience all of the new parades, shows and attractions in honor of the 50th anniversary of Disneyland Park.  And if one Theme Park is particularly busy, the other is only a few steps away!

Tip #2: Save Time in Line – Disney’s FASTPASS Service (which is included with Theme Park admission) provides timesaving passes that allow you to enjoy some of the most popular attractions with little or no wait. You can also save time with “single rider” queues available at Splash Mountain, Soarin’ Over California and other popular attractions.  In addition, lines for attractions tend to be shorter early in the morning, at night and during parade performances. At Disneyland Park, check the information board (located near Plaza Pavilion) for the most up-to-date attraction wait times.

Tip #3: Extended Park Hours – Both Disneyland Park and Disney’s California Adventure Park have extended hours through the summer … allowing you more time to enjoy the magic. You can check guide maps at the entrance to each Theme Park for exact operating times on the day of your visit.

Tip #4: Plan Dining Ahead – Whether it’s breakfast with Minnie and Friends or a meal fit for a Princess, some of the most memorable Disney experiences are enjoyed in the Resort’s themed restaurants. Reserve priority seating in advance by calling (714) 781-DINE.  And here’s an extra tip: visit restaurants during off-peak hours (such as an early breakfast, late lunch or an early/late dinner).

Tip #5: Know Before You Go – Save time in advance by knowing which children in your party are able to visit which attractions according to height requirements.  This information is available under the “Attractions” section for both Theme Parks on Disney's Web site. You can also check guide maps or the information kiosks at the Theme Parks.

Tip #6: Keep Cool Indoors – If park lines get busy, visit one of the many indoor attractions to maximize time in both Theme Parks.  These include: “Disneyland: The First 50 Magical Years,” the Enchanted Tiki Room, “Golden Dreams” or the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror!

Tip #7: Find Characters Fast – There’s no need to guess! Guide maps now show exact times and locations where you can meet your favorite Disney Character. Some restaurants also offer Disney Character Dining, which is perfect for more one-on-one time with their favorite mouse, duck or dog! Here’s an extra hint: carry an autograph book so you can collect each character’s unique signature.

Tip #8: Relax – Remember … vacations should be restful, too. And with so much to see at the Disneyland Resort, you will want to take extra time to enjoy it all. Whether it’s a swim at your Disneyland Resort Hotel, shopping at the Downtown Disney District or a massage at the new Mandara Spa, you will feel less rushed to “see it all” in one day and have a better, more relaxed vacation to enjoy.

Tip #9: Take the Train – Looking to get off your feet and still get around? Hop aboard one of Walt Disney’s personal favorites – the Disneyland Railroad. Departing from Town Square, and with stops at Mickey’s Toontown, New Orleans Square and Tomorrowland, this scenic journey is a great way to save your feet and side-step a busy day.

Tip #10: Shop BEFORE You Drop – Shop early in the afternoon (ideally between 2 and 4 p.m.) when most Guests are visiting the attractions.

Downtown Disney District

Take a short walk or a ride on the monorail to the lively promenade that offers unique shopping and dining as well as nighttime excitement and activity. From AMC Theatres to House of Blues to ESPN Zone, the Downtown Disney District, located just outside the Theme Parks and near the hotels of the Disneyland Resort, offers something for everyone from morning until after midnight.
