British Virgin Islands

bvi bvi bvi bvi

The friendly spirit and wonderful accommodations in theBritish Virgin Islands', are some of the reasons the resorts and the private-islands are known as the most romantic Caribbean honeymoon destination.

The British Virgin Islands lie in the northeast corner of the Caribbean, 60 miles east of Puerto Rico. The islands range from Tortola —largest island in the chain— to treasured backwaters with a handful of accommodations to privately owned islands and uninhabited outcrops. Throughout the islands, beaches are splendid and the beach bars exceptional. Gourmet cuisine can be found, along with background music from steel pans and guitars. The beaches in the British Virgin Islands have been voted the "best beaches" by Caribbean Travel and Life Magazine.

The hub of the British Virgin Islands is 10-square-mile Tortola, connected by a short bridge to Beef Island (where Tortola’s airport is located). Accommodations are varied including everything from luxury resorts, private villas and campgrounds. Tortola is also the perfect base to stay at while exploring other British Virgin Islands. There are regular ferries, yachts, and planes that travel daily to all the other islands. Tortola is a good spot for those who want an engaging nightlife scene or an array of dining options; it’s also less expensive than the outlying islands.

Measuring just eight-and-a-half-miles long, Virgin Gorda is the third largest in the island chain. The pace of life is slow on Virgin Gorda. The beauty and seclusion of the island draws visitors to Virgin Gorda to enjoy the quiet coves, yacht clubs, and wonderful luxury resorts. A visit to The Baths, the most popular natural attraction, encourages swimming and snorkeling in the mysterious grottoes, and saltwater pools. There is also a connecting trail to enjoy.
